Cookie policy.

I want to be honest about what happens technically when you visit this site. So here it is — no jargon, no polish.
A small note: on this page, "I" means Dong Le — the real person behind the Liva project — rather than Liva herself.
Do I use cookies?
No — not in the traditional sense. This site uses no third-party cookies, no advertising cookies, and no tracking cookies from external services like Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, TikTok, or anything similar.
I set no cookies in your browser. None at all.
So what do I store?
I've built my own small analytics tool because I like knowing whether my songs are actually being listened to — and whether the post I spent three weeks on ever gets read.
Here's exactly what it does:
- It creates an anonymous session ID in your browser's sessionStorage — not a cookie. It disappears automatically when you close the tab.
- It records which pages you visit on livstenbjerg.dk, and roughly how long you spend there.
- It registers whether you play a song or video.
- It tracks your scroll depth — meaning whether you read the whole post or just the top.
What it doesn't do: It stores no personal information. No IP address, no device information, no browser fingerprint, no location. The session ID is randomly generated and cannot be traced back to you as a person.
No third parties have access to this data. Ever.
sessionStorage vs. cookies
sessionStorage is not the same as a cookie. It's a temporary memory in the browser that only exists within one window or tab, and is automatically cleared when you close it. It isn't sent to the server automatically with each request, and other websites can't read it.
This means no one can recognise you across visits, and I can't build a profile of you over time.
External services
When you watch a music video on this site, it's embedded from YouTube (Google). YouTube may set its own cookies in connection with playback. Google's own cookie rules apply there — not mine. I'd recommend reading Google's privacy policy if that's relevant to you.
Beyond YouTube, I use no other third-party services on this site.

Write to me at contact@livstenbjerg.dk. I answer myself, slowly, with a cup of coffee.
I don't want to know who you are. Only whether the music reached you.
